October

Only a few days behind in getting my October calendar put together.  I waited on purpose to get some up-to-the-minute photos of Jacob during his preschool field trip to the pumpkin patch.  It was my first visit to a pumpkin patch as well. 

I put forth a bit more effort on this month's layout because October is the month of Jacob's birthday.  I dug through my extensive collection of chipboard alphabets & numbers that I haven't used in oh-so-long to add a bit of dimension.  The number four was a plain chipboard piece that I inked with some Distress Ink in Fired Brick and a bit of StazOn Ink in Timber Brown around the edges.  The red letters are ones I've had forever (maybe old Heidi Swapp?) that I distressed a bit and inked with the brown ink as well.  The striped paper is also old: My Mind's Eye from 2006. 

 

Hard to believe I had a baby just four years ago.  And now that baby is getting good at using the computer all by himself and using words like "eager" and "misunderstood."  He definitely has a mind of his own and isn't afraid to assert himself.  Anywhere, anytime.  I'm glad he's so independent.  I remember being four years old myself and how much fun it was.  Here's a flashback photo of me one October many years ago:

I think I'm actually five in this photo.  And I'm pretty sure my dad posed me like that.  He's also the one who carved the jack-o-lanterns you see here.  This was snapped in the backyard of our old house on Rock Island Street in Knoxville, where I passed some of the happiest years of my life.

As October comes to an end....

I'm trying to make lots of stuff for upcoming craft shows.
I finally finished Jacob's birthday thank-yous tonight. 

I made our November calendar/scrapbook page before November started!  I feel especially proud of myself for this small accomplishment. 

I am happy that Jacob loved his first day of "Gym & Learn" class today. 

I am getting ready for Market Day this Saturday and trying to decide if I can muster up the effort to put together a costume.  My guess is: probably not.  I'm not all that into Halloween, and comfort is important to me, especially when I'll be on my feet for oh, about nine hours straight!  But if you're coming to shop at Market Day, you should definitely wear a costume, if only to enhance my people-watching fun!

I can't believe that this Sunday is the last East Village Sunday Bazaar of 2011!  Time sure flies when you are doing shows every week!  And loving it, might I add.  But I'm looking forward to indoor shows for the rest of the year because....my tent is heavy!  And sometimes wind gusts are rather annoying.

I need to remember to buy some candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters Sunday evening.  I mean, I need to buy some candy that Jacob and Daddy will end up eating because we'll be out trick-or-treating ourselves.  We're obviously in dire need of fresh candy at our house, since I finally threw away the 4th of July parade candy a couple of weeks ago. 

I made flyers with my fall/winter show schedule to mail out to customers and hand out at craft shows and again, checking something else off my never-ending "to-do" list makes me happy. 

And now, I think it's time for some ice cream.
